Why "Glamma"?

Even though I am of an age to be a grandma, I don't feel or look like one. So one day while poking around on the internet, I found alternative names for grandma. Glamma popped up as one of them. I loved it! So easy to say, cute and different. To me, glammas are warmth, security, wisdom and experience. All things that I have to offer you on your parenting journey.

Having a baby changes everything.  Your world will never be the same!

Congratulations on entering a new and exciting time in your life!

You will fall in love with this little person. You'll want to be his or her protector at all costs! You will never experience such love for another person.

But on the other side, there is the enormous responsibility, the sleep deprivation, the anxiety, the possible depression, and the loss of control over life as you now know it, during this adjustment period.

Just like marriage or any committed relationship, no one can tell you what it will be like or how to do it.  You have to discover it for yourself, through trial and error. Parenting is the very same.  It is different for everyone, especially since this little bundle of joy does not come with an owner's manual!

I can promise you....you WILL make mistakes.  You are only human.  You want to be perfect and that expectation weighs heavily on us. NO ONE IS PERFECT. We all learn through trial and error. And you will pick it up... faster than you think.

Reading, taking advice from family, friends, co-workers and yes, even doulas, can be overwhelming.  The secret is to take that information you are given and mull it over.  What resonates with you? What doesn't? What feels right? If it doesn't, toss it away and focus on what speaks to YOU. You may end up upsetting some people, but who is your child's parent?  You are!  You know your baby best.

Let me help you through this transition period.  I can provide you with evidence-based information. "Let me be your right hand" and let us work together.  Let me bring calm to your home.  Let me assist you and guide you during this adjustment period.  Tell me what you need and I will do my very best to provide it.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.

She never existed before.

The woman existed, but the mother never.

A mother is something absolutely new.
